Eva Belmonte

Eva BelmonteEva Belmonte (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) is a journalist, graduated in the University of Barcelona, with ten years of experience writing and editing for major Spanish media organizations like El Mundo. Managing Editor at Civio, she designs, develops and supervises the data journalism projects portfolio. She also authors the daily blog Our daily BOE (with more than 30.000 unique visitors a month) and she is an expert in public information analysis. Her articles are re-published by all major outlets in Spain (El Pais, El Mundo, El Confidencial, etc.) and she is often invited on national television as a public information expert. She has authored the book Españopoly (Ariel, 2015), where she describes and documents how power structures work in Spain and how this relates to the traditional lack of governmental transparency and accountability. Her blog has been awarded by Open Knowledge Foundation -Spanish chapter- as best non-governmental transparency initiative, and the project Medicamentalia was named the best small newsroom investigation by the 2016 Data Journalism Awards of the Global Editors Network.
